POSITION SUMMARY
Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Tactical and Marine Vehicle Mechanic to perform motor vehicle maintenance and repair work on motor vehicles, small engines, generators, and related equipment. This role offers the chance to work independently, maintaining and repairing vehicles, small engines, and generators while focusing on tactical vehicle repair. You'll also handle boat maintenance (non-engine), facility repairs, and the fabrication of custom training aids. With daily tasks ranging from maintenance to supporting field training operations, this position is perfect for someone who values variety, independence, and the opportunity to make a real impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
- Equipment Maintenance: Inventory, maintain, and repair maritime equipment, tactical vehicles, and watercraft; perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs to ensure availability for training events.
- Advanced Repairs: Diagnose, repair, and service engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and specialized equipment; coordinate off-site repairs for major overhauls.
- Custom Fabrication: Customize tactical vehicles by fabricating mounts, accessories, and weapon system brackets; perform painting, camouflaging, and modifications to maximize tactical utility.
- Logistics & Budgeting: Forecast supplies and logistical requirements, create budgets, and execute orders through the Logistics Flight for repairs and handy-man activities.
- Record Keeping: Maintain records of completed work, parts used, and operational compliance with MSDS, HAZMAT programs, and waterborne operation regulations.
- Training Support: Repair, transport, and assist with field use of inflatable vehicle decoys for training, including tanks, technicals, and anti-aircraft systems.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform services such as oil changes, brake repairs, tire installations, alignments, air conditioning repairs, and other scheduled maintenance.
- Field Support: Advise on repairs, oversee off-base servicing, and provide field training support for tactical operations.
- Compliance & Procedures: Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and ensure proper safety practices.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational readiness.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- 3+ years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of small engines, and vehicles.
- 3+ years of experience and current certification in maintenance and use of High-Pressure Air Compressors (HPACs).
- 3+ years of experience and understanding of basic welding in pertaining to minor and major vessel/vehicular structure repair.
- 3+ years of experience working as a vehicle mechanic.
- 3+ years technical background and training experience to be able to analyze various equipment tests and provide instruction to personnel.
- Possess experience or training of personal protection equipment (PPE) required under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Shall obtain and maintain license(s) to operate and maintain assigned small engines, vehicles, and watercraft.
- Shall obtain and maintain certifications to be able to repair all assigned equipment.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with watercraft.
- Experience safely operating tactical vehicles.
- Experience with USAF PMEL and HAZMAT handling requirements.
